The 10 companies with the highest net revenues in the Pulp and Paper sector in Brazil totaled approximately R$ 60.1 billion in 2020. This value represents an increase of 12% compared to 2019. The highlight goes to Suzano, which alone represents more than half of the amount in 2020. It is important to highlight that companies that have not disclosed, up to this date, their balance sheets and accounting statements for the base year of 2020, were not considered in this analysis.

The year 2021 has been marked by a significant increase in wood prices in Brazil and in the world. In order to understand and visualize the impact that prices have had on the production chain, CONSUFOR analyzed the amount of final product that can be produced considering a purchase ticket of r$10,000 in wood logs or charcoal (raw material), in two different periods: the current (2nd quarter of 2021) and the same pre-pandemic period (2nd quarter of 2019). During the 2nd Quarter of 2021, the Pine market in Brazil remained significantly heated, which kept the trend of price increases in all States, with some of them registering readjustments of up to 80% in some assortments.
The price of Eucalyptus Charcoal in Minas Gerais increased significantly throughout 2020. In 2021 it has already accumulated an increase of around 30%, according to the last quarterly survey by CONSUFOR.
